you sang
the twelve days of christmas
much to my delight
then we danced
ring around the blue spruce
with the tiny multi colored lights
I loved your color coordination
as I watched you hang
the shiny globes with care
you smiled your indulgence when I added
the snowflake ornaments from Dollar Tree
tiny red velvet bows completed the ensemble
the silver garland sparkled so prettily
nestled amongst the branches
the star at the top blinked merrily
as we wrapped arms around each other
we inhaled of the fresh pine scent
and shared coffee flavored kisses
as we gazed with happiness and pride
at our first Christmas tree.
Have yourself a Saintly little Christmas
Drew Brees makes our hearts light
From now on these years of agony and angst
And those Aints bags are out of sight
Have yourself a Saintly little Christmas
Sean Payton has made our Yuletide gay
From now on Gregg Williams’s defense has evoked
Fond memories of the Dome Patrol of yesterday
Here we are in these black and gold days
We’re watching 2009 become a helluva season of yore
Faithful Who Dats are loving every moment
And packing the Superdome to the rafters once more
Through the playoffs and to the Super Bowl we all will be watching
Its Saints time, The Fates will allow
Hang the NFC South Champions banner upon the highest bough
And have yourself a Saintly little Christmas now
Just having a little christmas fun today.
GO SAINTS!
Since that first day this past April
When I escaped serious peril
I’ve realized anew
The innocence I once knew
Is slowly crumbling
Mortality is humbling
Forever is just an eye-blink away
The march of time we cannot sway
No longer can I say I’m invincible, I’m strong
That’s why it’s so wrong
Not to take this moment now
To find the words to tell you somehow
How much you mean to me
Despite the passage of time
I’m reaching out to those I hold dear
To say what I want you to hear
Wherever you may be, wherever you are
I want you to know how much I care
Forever is just an eye-blink away
The march of time we cannot sway
It’s too easy nowadays to lose perspective
And avoid being introspective
But we can’t let the daily grind make us lose focus
And let those precious moments of sharing escape us
We have to try to break down those lengthy silences
And mend those broken fences
We have to try to restore communication
And converse without provocation
We have to try to stop being judgmental
And simply celebrate being sentimental
Forever is just an eye-blink away
The march of time we cannot sway
All my joys and all my sorrows
All my yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows
For better or for worse
You’ve help shape my life’s course
So with the approach of this holiday season
I’ve created this poem for a loving reason
Please let my words warm your heart
Even though we’re far apart
Even though times spent together are much less
Love for family and friends in these times is still priceless
Forever is just an eye-blink away
The march of time we cannot sway
When the sun rises on the brand new year
May all your hopes and dreams dawn clear
May each and every one of you
Always know that my love for you is true
Cold, clear night in Mississippi
In this tiny town
Nestled between the Wolf and the Pearl
No snow on the ground
But that’s quite allright
It’s still Christmas Eve
Everyone’s gone to bed
I’m alone
Save for the golden laborador
Laying at my feet
Sharing the dying warmth of the fireplace
Sparkling Christmas tree
Seems to have lost its enchantment
Paling in comparision
To the star-light connection
That stretches between us
I read again upon each page
The poetic words that flew
From your heart
To your fingers
To me..
Tis’ said
Home is where the heart is
Mine is where ever you are
This Christmas Eve night
